Unfortunately I have had to miss this weeks lecture, instead having to go over the lecture slides in brief detail where Mirko explains the co-existing and fundamental relationship between buildings and signs, which ultimately effect the surrounding urban context. From the notes I have been enlighted to the surprisingly positive effects of signage (and advertisement) and how sinage not only directs people and the way in which we use the space, it also indirectly aids in moulding the experience (and safety) of the urban environment.
REFLECTION/PROJECT DEVELOPEMENT
It has been a busy week, waiting for hours in the last cutting room, cutting pieces of thin card which took alot more hours than expected, having issues with the thickness of the walls (made of perspex) and having to recut new walls using unconventional methods. In addition to this I had a throat infection which I believe was my immune system preventing my cold to worsen. ANYWAY, after much consideration on how I wanted to Soleil Tower scale 1:500 model to look like in the end, and how I could best unite my report on the building in relation to its urban context, I have finished the model. I am overal happy with the outcome, and believe it will be serve its purpose of being a tool to further analyse and investigate its urban relationship.
